We can finally breathe...

Rob and I have been working in a frenzy this past couple of weeks trying to get ready for the Art & Wine show at the Bonacquisti wine company. Rob completed some amazing pieces and to finally see them up on the wall instead of on the floor of the studio, well let me just say I am so excited for the rest of the world to see them!! I finished many pieces as well and am really pleased with the way they turned out.

Our camera died this past Monday, I bought another and haven't had quite enough time to take any pics of the new pieces. We decided to wait until the show today and take pictures there.

We will have a few days to just take a breather and then it's back to the workshops to get ready for the Chile Harvest festival at the end of the month.

Have a happy weekend!!

La Familia!

Rob and I dashed off to New Mexico for the weekend, spending a little time with mi familia, but mostly just enjoying our weekend hunting down tesoros!

Our first stop was the Albuquerque flea market where we found a guy who buys estates and then takes the goods to the flea market to sell off, we purchased a very old statue of Santo Nino de Praga and some old trinkets for me to add into some jewelry pieces. The next stop was the Old Town plaza where we always stop into the church gift shop to purchase devotional art from the local artists and a shop called Santisma to check out some Dia de los Muertos art, didn't buy anything there, but the art was amazing! Next stop was My Tio Paul and Tia Ruth's 50th wedding anniversary party at my cousin Katie's hacienda. It was nice to see all the cousins and be able to spend a few hours with the rest of la familia.

Sunday morning was spent in Madrid checking out some of the galleries, then on to Chimayo at the Santuario, where Rob added a few more pieces of art to the gallery. I was also able to check out the newly remodeled Santo Nino chapel, it is gorgeous!!! We bought some biscochitos and played in the river that is right beside the stations of the cross and took more pictures. Then it was off to Taos to find our friend Pablo who makes crosses out of found objects, the best part of this visit was that he blessed us with a cross that is titled Halo, I'll post a pic of it soon. The last stop heading back to Colorado was the Rio Grande Gorge, Rob talked me into getting out and exploring a little, yep I'm afraid of heights, so this was a brave new step for me!
Well that was our weekend fun, what do you all have planned for the remainder of the summer?! Can you believe it's already the middle of July, I really never want summer to end!

Stay tuned, I'm going to post about a very special person who is having a very special giveaway on her blog...

Mora County

Here is the first of Rob's paintings! This first one is titled Mora County which is in northern New Mexico. Look at all the story telling going on in this piece, I love it! The second piece is also done and this one is titled Chili Time, this piece is also going to be shown at the Chili Harvest Festival that CHAC gallery is having in August, oh what fun! Well Rob hopes that this invokes some memories to those of you that are from or have visited New Mexico, if you have never been to New Mexico, well, just let the paintings tell you a story! Not the best pics I know, they are just so big and I'm not the best photographer, got figure out how to take some real good ones before listing in the shop.

New Mexican Folk Art Paintings

Thought I would give you all a sneak peek at what Rob has been creating lately. Because it's almost summer, he thought it would be nice to do a few New Mexican folk art paintings that tell stories. He has one done, it is titled Mora County and I can't wait til you all see it, I will takes pics tomorrow morning. Tonight I went outside to his workshop, snuck behind him and took a pic of the one he is currently working on, not yet titled. Check out the color and how fun it just is!

See you tomorrow
