Making jewelry and eating ribs

Well my day started off good enough, but has kind of dwindled into a lazy afternoon. I did get a few pieces done, and I am going to be baking the cuff bracelets this evening. Rob made the yummiest fall off the bone ribs, we barely even touched the corn and baked beans, because the ribs took center stage! Did I ever mention that Rob does all the cooking? Yes I am blessed! I take care of the cleaning and in return I am fed!!! No really, Rob is from Tennessee and not only can he cook some fabulous Southern style food but he also makes some kick ass mexican food too, thanks to yours truly and mi familia!
Okay enough about food, here are a couple of the pieces that are finished and going into the Etsy shop. Mi Linda are earrings that remind me of family vacations spent in Mexico and watching the beautiful Spanish dancers. Southwest Americana is a bracelet that I have continuously made throughout the years with slight variations. I hope to post pictures of the cuff bracelets tomorrow as well as some of Rob's new pieces.

I really need to get busy!

It has now been a couple of weeks since I've made anything new and tomorrow my goal is to make at least 4 new bracelets, maybe a couple of necklaces and some more cuff bracelets. We spent the morning at the flea market looking for more treasures but didn't really find much. We didn't even get any good veggies this time around. Then it was back home to mow the yard, pull the weeds, and give it all a good watering. My canna lilies are so beautiful and healthy this year, I just love them! The vegetable garden is starting to show off too and soon I will be out there everyday tending to it.
I love this time of year, the days are warm but not too hot and the evenings are still cool. Makes me want to move my workshop outside!
I still have the SALE going on in the Etsy shop and will probably end that on Monday. Hope everyone is having a wonderful, happy weekend!

Rainy Day Sale!

It has been raining for 3 days now, wasn't much of a fun weekend for us! So I have decided to have a Rainy Day Sale, I need to make room for the new anyway so why not?! Hope all of you are enjoying the end of a long weekend and giving thanks to those we have lost in the Armed Services who gave so courageously so that we can enjoy what we are doing right now!

Hola!

Was a little under the weather for a few days there, but back in action now!
We had a wonderful arts and crafts show at our building last Thursday and Friday, there was a man who owns a bar called the Thin Man that bought 6, yep 6 of Rob's retablos! My first thought was that he was going to sell them, but no what he does is display religious icon art on one wall in his bar, we thought that was pretty cool. By the time Friday was over I had sold most of Rob's art and my jewelry sold really well too, I now have to replenish and have had absolutely no energy! I am very happy that the new pieces I created with my own handmade polymer clay beads sold and had so many nice comments on them. I just made two more and listed them, here are some pics.

Taos Part II

We had a wonderful time in Taos this past weekend and made many new friends! We made new contacts and got great feedback and comments on our work, we also had some good sales which is always a plus. The artists that were in this venue with us were fantastic and we encouraged them to look at Etsy and 1000Markets as online selling venues. First off we have JoAnn & Gene from Snazzy Glass, they are located right here in Eaton, CO and then we have Sylvia Ford from Angel Fire, NM, check out her vibrant pieces, then we have James West of Albuquerque with his Raku pottery, he has his pieces in quite a few galleries in New Mexico, and last but not least we met Karl & Trisha Jacobson and their pup Spirit of Durango, CO and Karl is making me a beautiful sterling silver and sugilite ring! This was a great event to participate in, so if anyone is in the SW area you really should look into it! If you are interested in getting in touch with any of these fine, talented folks, let me know and I'll get you their contact info.

Taos

We made it to Taos and we are loving it! Last night was spent getting settled into our lovely room at the Adobe and Pines Inn, where they have a fantastic courtyard with hens, no roosters, just Rob, roaming around and they even have some pygmy goats in a pen, I love goats!

This morning we were treated to a wonderful breakfast and then we were on our way to the fine arts and crafts show where hands down we are showing with some of the nicest people we have ever met!!! To the right of us is JoAnn of Snazzy Glass, I will post some pics of her fused glass work tomorrow. Previous vendors told us early that Fridays are always a slow day, but surprisingly we did well and we are happy!

We are now relaxing on the patio outside of our room, Rob is painting one of his pieces and I am getting to read all of your wonderful blogs!
Goodnight and talk to ya'll tomorrow.

Sitting in a Coffee House...

We are on our way to Taos but had to make a quick stop in Salida, CO for an appt. Rob had to attend to. I thought I would post a couple of quick pics, since I'm just sitting here reading blogs, which I love by the way! I am at Bongo Billy's Salida Cafe and it is really a nice place with great staff that sits right next to the Arkansas river where people are passing by as they do there crazy whitewater rafting! I will post more when we get to Taos, have a good day all!

Soul of the Southwest...

That phrase describes me perfectly, I love New Mexico, that is my quiet place when the big city gets to be too much for me. I thank the Lord that my husband is in love not only with me but New Mexico too. He too is inspired by the colors, nature and beauty of the desert and many of his pieces of art are created from places he has been there.
As mentioned yesterday, I have been working on some polymer clay pieces that I plan on taking with me to the show in Taos. Here is a little sneak peek at one that I made for myself to wear while out there. I have always loved playing in the garden or MUD since I was a little girl and that is what polymer clay reminds me of, free to make what ever you like!

On My Way to the Land of Enchantment!

Well it is Saturday night and I am working on my new polymer clay pieces that I will be taking to Taos next weekend and tomorrow will be spent making some new bracelets and necklaces. Rebecca from AdobeSol made some beautiful clasps for me and I can't wait to get started!
I don't think we will be able to make it to the ranch so I thought I would post some pics from when Rob went down last in March.
Have a good weekend all!
The Pecos River runs through our town. Those big boulders have been there forever! The next pic is part of our family's land and where we hope to build a little place of our own to stay when we go down there.

This is the beautiful choya (cactus) that has lovely little flowers blooming on it! When the choya dies we collect it to make crosses.
